I have always admired and respected Ronald Reagan. I know what you're thinking; that line from "Back to the Future" where Doc says, "Ronald Reagan? The actor??" [Laughing] Me too.
He was the President, as we all know, who declared, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" and the world was never the same. He was the President who came into the presidency with a bloated Federal government, the deficit higher than it has ever been, the economy in a recession (at best), with rates as high as 21%. And we forgot to mention the tension because of the Cold War. He, amazingly, took the values he had always had, and put them to work. And it made all the difference!
His autobiography is not entangled in verbiage, but laced with faith and prayer. His love for many things--nature, his wife, his country, the people themselves--is the main contributor to his success (as he states) and is the center of his gratitude.
This is not an easy read--it's a brick, 726 pages, with an index, too. But it was sure worth it. Beautiful and inspiring, I am now declaring that I am a Reagan Republican.
